Florida vacation

Posted by PicasaWe spent this last week in Florida, visiting the Dear Daughter and The Son We Did Not Have To Raise. How nice to be "away from it all!" I managed to draw every day, including some drawing in public.

I did several drawings while we were at the harbor. I guess being on vacation helps get rid of the "oh my gosh, people can see me" willies!

Posted by Picasa Some drawings while lounging on the beach -- hard to keep up with the little running sand pipers.

Posted by Picasa The fishing pier on Okaloosa Island. We walked out to watch the fishing. The Cobia were running, and it was fun to watch how people don't so much fish for them, as hunt the things!

Stay tuned for pictures of the darling grand-pug -- my new sweetie!

We were in Nashville for 5 days, and, yes, there were storms and hail. Thankfully just at night. There was a bad wreck on the interstate east of Knoxville as we went by...where the road work is.

Princess trees...are those the beautiful pinky purple flowered ones? They were beautiful, and we saw brillant red poppies and a tall cedar with a dogwood growing in the middle and surrounding the cedar with blos

They are each little gems. I am particularly fond of the architectural one and the pier. I'm glad you're getting braver. Kudos!

These are wonderful. Makes me want to run right back to Sanibel and Captiva Islands. We love Florida. And you totally captured the feel and spirit of that area.

Looks like you had a great time. Glad you made it back safely. These are wonderful. How do you draw those fast little sandpipers? Look forward to seeing your pictures of PTP.

Beautiful palm tree and love the pier and the house on the hill. What a great vacation journal. I like the gulf coast, it's alot slower pace then on my side of Florida. I like living where people come for vacation - so why travel. I'm already here. And do you have drawings of the grand pug?

Linda, you're so incredibly good as artist, that I find it impossible to believe that you're timid about sketching in public! Why???? These are really beautiful---your linework is elegant and so descriptive. Welcome back. You're just in time( with a few days to spare) to wish me bon voyage ;D.

Linda; I am amazed you are afraid of drawing in public - I never would have guessed! You are such an incredible artist and have such a beautiful talent... Me, on the other hand, I'm still very much a beginner and eventhough I've drawn in public, I still have to 'make' myyself do it.
These vacation drawings are all lovely; I bet you'll come up with some lovely gems back in your studio!
Thanks for sharing your thoughts and experiences. We're all human after all!
