Bird Nest

We have had some terrific storms in Tennessee this week. While Knoxville has been blessedly spared the worst of the destruction, we still experienced some hard and high winds. This little bird nest, exposed to full view and all the forces of nature, is perched precariously on the end of a long limb of an oak tree in the front of our house. I couldn't believe it was completely unscathed when I saw it this morning. Posted by Picasa

Yes, the midwest storms have been fierce of late (I'm in Ohio) but I'm glad for the bitty bird nest. They are made of tuff stuff. and your rendering is lovely. Happy sketching to you.

Such a fine little nest, and so precariously put there. I hope it stays through all the storms, as Starr said.

SO VERY GLAD you're okay -- thought of you with all the storms, Linda! LOVELY LOVELY sketch -- and wonderful sentiment ...!

Oh, this is perfect Linda! I am waiting for the bird to fly out of there.

Happy to hear you are okay!

I love the way you let the pieces of sky poke through but not intrude on the scene. Lovely.

I've been thinking about you all week. At first the storms were much to the west of you, right? This is a beautiful and elegant drawing. You go, birds!

One of the things I like about your blog is that you draw things - like this sketch - that I wouldn't think to draw. I wouldn't think I'd be able to get much of a drawing out of a spindly branch with a little nest on it. And maybe I wouldn't. But you certainly did. Splendid.

Lin, this is such a lovely little sketch! I really love the looseness of it and the sponteneity of the result. Well done!

Buona giornata da Italia!

Now that's a cat's eye view. It's a smiley painting. That little nest sure had staying power.

I love the 'looseness' of this drawing. It gives the work a sense of freedom which is perfect for the subject matter.
