China - EDMWC

See -- I was good and went and did the EDM challenge. And see -- this is why I don't do still lifes! Cups and such are all so symmetrical; flowers and sticks are leaves aren't, so you can't tell if its the drawing or the subject that's lopsided. We can just pretend that this drawing is perfect and the cup ITSELF is wonky... Posted by Picasa

Oh, those darn ellipses!! This is gorgeous, with such glowing colors and, yes, such well-drawn shapes ;D.

Linda -- I love your cup and don't think it's misshapen! The watercolors make it absolutely GLOW! It's filled with vibrancy and the gold around the edges seems to give it just the right 'glint!'

Lovely! Looks perfect for sipping tea out of. I like the gold rims, too. And the watery shadows.

For me, the colors (and use of white) make this work even if the shapes aren't exact. I'm an impressionist, not a photo-realist, so it's perfect in my eyes!

I love it-the colors and delicacy of it make it very 'china'.

Linda I loved your post about journals and information. Thanks so much. your cup is really lovely. I'm working in watercolor this weekend and alternating screaming in frustration and feeling very proud of myself. I look to you for inspiration!!!

Hi Linda;

Your cup is beautiful..so alive with colour. I have big problems with anything symmetrical too... I figure it will just take practice!
Beautiful painting, I love it!

I really love this Linda, I can't believe how nicely you captured the gold with watercolor, I would think that would be a definite challenge to represent. I also love those shadows. Wonderful job.

I've always been a big fan of "wonky", myself. ;D I really like this, Linday - it is delicate and luminous...

I like wonky! Besides, a perfect cup is subject matter for photography. Give me the sketched cup any day!

I love your work! I came to your blog from a link at somanystars. I live in Maryville, so I thought it was neat when I saw you live "just down the road".

Thanks for sharing your beautiful artwork with us! I'll check back soon.

Hey fellow Tennessean Linda -

Thanks for visiting my blog! I love the cup, especially how it seems to glow on the paper.

By the way - it's not wonky, it is simply loaded with character.

Well, I think it's perfect. Your work makes me happy. Maybe it's your sense of color...or maybe the "wonkiness"...which are both perfect.
