EDMWC - Folds

Graphite drawing of a dinner napkin for the Everyday Matters Weekly Challenge. It is so relaxing to work in pencil; studying watercolor has become a lot of work... Posted by Picasa

That is a really nice drawing! I think you did a great job on the shading and getting the texture of the cloth.

I really enjoyed seeing all the detail when I clicked and enlarged the picture. Nice shading!

The shading is great and the little holes bring it to life! Makes me wonder what the meal was like!

Linda, I'm crazy about this drawing. I love how you can see the drawn thread work wind its way around the napkin. You inspire me!

I like to think you THREW this napkin down during a passionate philosophical debate with your husband over poached pears and red wine sauce---pushing your chair away, you caused the candlewax to pour from the silver bobeche onto the polished mahogany of the dining room table. He said, "my darling, wait--hear me out!" as you flounced away, your taffeta skirt rustling in the tense silence. See how evocative a beautiful drawing can be? ;D

Really nice folds!

Thanks to you all for the nice comments! Laura, you crack me up! Of course I wasn't wearing a taffeta skirt, but silk pants, which whisper rather than rustle ...

Nice work! You help me realize that I have been letting my drawing skill lapse. I really like what you have done over a multitude of entries.

Laura's been reading too many romance novels. But she's right, great drawing. :-)

This is nice and has great 3 dimensionality. I could have sworn I left a comment before. I must have been rushing and missed it.

Thank you so much for your kind words!

very nice drawing and the little stitches in the fabric are great. You really get a feeling of folds.

Linda - so lovely. Laura's comment is so funny but the ironed linen napkins do evoke a kind of life (unlike the pieces of paper kitchen towel that seem to be all we can manage in our house!)
