October Sunday on the Lake

To the lake on Sunday with Sis and our friend, while DH stayed home to watch football. We rode around in the boat, beaching it a few times to explore the shore and trying to gather enough wild persimmons to make pudding. Summer seems to be a bit prolonged this year -- and that suits me just fine!

I did this quickie watercolor sketch last time we were out, taking only about 5 minutes so she wouldn't know I was drawing her. Yep, I'm just another step closer to sketching total strangers in coffee houses and burger joints ... Posted by Picasa

Good job Linda. I really like how you did the clothing and capturing the folds and shadows in the fabrics. :o) You'll be sketching coffee shops before you know it.

Linda - I really like this - do you take your wc on the boat with you? I will have to let her know you did this. Wish I had been there.

Ha! She knows now that I did the picture, but not that I put it up on my blog! (I suppose I should have told her ... ) I usually take my sketchbook and little folding WC palette with me when we go out on the boat, but don't always do anything with it. Wish you had been there, too! :-)

Darn good for a quickie. Did she catch anything?

Yay, you! Why don't you get in the car, go east on I-40 and we could sketch at burger joints together? :D

Laura -- you just wouldn't believe how much fun that sounds like right now! :-D

Oh, and I almost forgot to answer Janey!!! Unfortunately we did NOT catch anything, although it could have been that the sky was blue and clear and the sun was shining and the water was sparkling and we were more interested in the music on the CD player than fishing ...

Linda, THAT OLD HOUSE! Good lord girl, did that just flow out of your fingertips? It's absolutely stunning. Come teach me, OK? Yeah, your eye is terrific and your other stuff too...but boy, do I want to wander that patch of paradise. I think the balance of light and dark with the setting sun glow behind the trees makes the magic for me. Thank-you for letting us look.
