The Magicians by Lev Grossman (audio)
Oh my -- I'm loving this one! Writing, writing, writing -- wonderful writing!! What a story, too -- Harry Potter meets Jonathan Strange somewhere near Narnia... (kidding).
Recent "Reads":
Ready Player One by Ernest Cline (audio)
Seriously good geeky fun. And I do mean geeky!! AND FUN!
The Elegance of the Hedgehog by Muriel Barbery (audio)
Very French and fun in a dark way -- not a light read (or listen), but I think it may turn out to be one of my favorites for the year.
The Hunger Games by Suzanne Collins (book)
I love this story -- it is YA fiction, and so was very light -- an easy fun read. I wonder what one of the science fiction greats would have done with the story? Still, I'm like the rest of the crowd -- can't wait to see the movie! ;-) And my dear daughter has promised to bring me the next two books in the series, so I will be able to finish out the tale!
The Night Circus by Erin Morgenstern (audio - read by Jim Dale)
This weird genre is right up my alley, so I really enjoyed it; however, I'm not sure if I would have liked it as much were it not for Jim Dale's wonderful reading. I could listen to him read the phone book -- seriously. I listened to Harry Potter volumes 1 and 2 immediately afterward, just so I could continue my Jim Dale fix.
On The Bookshelf:
The Magician King by Lev Grossman
The Paris Wife by Paula McLain
The Emerald Atlas by John Stephens (again, read by Jim Dale -- which is why I got it. :-)
